Why having a symbolic ceremony is the best way to get married in Paris?

Why getting married in Paris?

engagement-photoshoot-dvvevents- getting married in paris 57

Let’s answer to this important question: why getting married in Paris? Why everybody is so in love with Paris? Well, well… Because it is one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world. I am not telling you that because I am Parisian and I love my city.

Paris has incredible monuments known all around the world such as the Eiffel Tower or the Sacré Coeur, if I have to name two of them. These places are important and very visited but they are also intimate venues all around them. We already planned an incredible elopement with first views over the Eiffel Tower keeping some privacy for the ceremony.

wedding Eiffel Tower - get married in Paris
Amber & Ryan’s wedding near the Eiffel Tower

Paris has full of venues depending on what you want to plan for your ceremony. If you want to plan it near a big monument such as the Eiffel Tower, a park as the Buttes Chaumont or the Tuileries park, a dock to have a complete view over the Seine, an arty venue such as the outside of the Palais de Tokyo,… Of course, I am talking about all free venues because you have much more venues all very different if you have some budget for your ceremony’s venue.

What is a symbolic ceremony?

A symbolic ceremony is maybe the most personal and easy way to get married in Paris. The symbolic ceremony is a ceremony which has no value for the Administration. That is to say you will have to get married “officially” in your own country or in France – but for this option, you will have to prove that you are living in France for example.

A symbolic ceremony can be prepared by yourselves, a friend, a member of your family or a celebrant as me. It is the actual alternative to all religious ceremony or civil ceremony.

In your symbolic ceremony, you will have the complete liberty to plan everything: from your enter in the ceremony to the vows (or not) without forgetting the choice of your ceremony’s venue,… You will be able to choose each element of the ceremony, each text, each song if you want or not,… One word for the symbolic ceremony: L-I-B-E-R-T-Y!

Why having a symbolic ceremony in Paris?

Congratulations! You have decided to plan a symbolic ceremony for your wedding. But why Paris for the symbolic ceremony?

elopementmontmartre2
Our beautiful couple for their elopement near the Sacré Coeur – Montmartre

As I told you earlier, having your ceremony in Paris is the choice of the romanticism… Don’t forget that Paris is the City of Love <3 And it is a well-deserved reputation! It can be an elopement or a small wedding, a bigger wedding or a surprise for your loved-one too.

A symbolic ceremony gives us the opportunity to choose the venue of your choice even if we have to be careful. For example, if you want to plan an outdoor ceremony, there will be a limitation of number of guests if you wish to do it in a public space. As a matter of fact, for security reason, it will not be possible to plan it for more than 15 guests. If you are more than 15, it will be easier and safer to plan it in a private venue… You would not like to have the Police invited to your ceremony, right? 😉

A romantic elopement in Montmartre

elopementmontmartre

Let’s start another book, another story… I want to tell you the story of this lovely and gorgeous couple who went to Paris to celebrate their elopement in Montmartre. They wanted to celebrate their vows in a beautiful place such as a park with less crowd as possible. They wanted it to be very intimate and romantic because that was their definition of an elopement in Paris, of their elopement in Paris.

Let’s discover how we planned it…

elopementmontmartre2

Their intimate elopement in Montmartre

This couple came to me through our blog. As you know, in the page contact, you have all the information you need to contact me through e-mail, phone, What’s App, FaceTime,…

From the beginning of the planning, they wanted to plan an intimate elopement as they didn’t want to have so many people. That’s why we had excluded a ceremony near the big monuments such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, … They wanted to have it in a park, in a beautiful park. I had sent them a few selection of parks but they felt in love with a small square near the Sacré Coeur, in Montmartre. And in fact, which place can be more romantic than Montmartre? An artistic district with the incredible Sacré Coeur which has a gorgeous view over the City.

elopementmontmartre3

But as the Sacré Coeur is a very visited place, I had to find a venue with more privacy. That’s why I noticed a very small square near the Sacré Coeur and in the very heart of Montmartre. By celebrating the ceremony early in the morning, we would be sure that this venue will be the perfect place.

The ceremony and the photoshoot

As you may know, I propose to my clients three packages for their elopement. They can add or cancel services in the package they had chosen. The lovely couple had chosen the package with only the ceremony and the photoshoot. Their main goal was to exchange their vows in Paris and to have some pictures of it.

They chose a very beautiful spot in the square, very green as they wanted. Isn’t this place gorgeous? Perfect for an intimate ceremony… During the ceremony, they wanted to exchange their vows alone, with nobody else including the celebrant. The ceremony is tailored for yourself, so you can ask everything… And some privacy for your vows of course!

elopementmontmartre4

After the ceremony, our lovely photographer Rosina Prod, shot them in the same area so they can keep a very beautiful souvenir from Paris…

What about your elopement?

Your wedding venue in Paris

It is one of the most important vendors and so many of them exist in Paris… I am going to tell you everything about finding the perfect venue in Paris for your ceremony but also for your reception venue… Let’s start!

Your ceremony in Paris: the venue!

The ceremony is maybe the most emotional moment of your wedding in Paris. It is the moment where you are going to say “YES” and exchange your vows in front of family and friends or maybe just in front of your love-one if you are planning an elopement.

Even if you can decide to plan your ceremony and reception at the same place, I am going to detailed you some venues for an outdoor and indoor ceremony in Paris.

destination wedding Paris 10

An outdoor ceremony in Paris

If you are planning an elopement, you will be able to plan your ceremony in an outdoor place in Paris. You may have seen a lot of them on Instagram and Pinterest in front of the Eiffel Tower for example… You can decide to plan it in front of the Eiffel Tower, the Carrousel du Louvre, in a dock or one of the most iconic garden in Paris such as Les Tuileries, Parc Monceau,…

However, for a wedding of more than 10 guests, planning a ceremony in a public place can be more difficult. In fact, private ceremonies are not allowed in public spaces in Paris but are quite accepted if you are planning an elopement. That’s why it would be a better idea to plan your ceremony in a private venue with beautiful gardens, there are a lot in Paris…

Alison & Teddy Elopement Paris

A private venue for your ceremony in Paris

A private venue is also a very romantic idea, even more if you are planning a wedding in winter for example because in France, winters are very different in terms of weather! If you have more than 10 guests, it is also a good point if you want to plan a ceremony outside, in a beautiful garden without having the security and privacy issues.

You will find very beautiful private lofts and mansions in all Paris with different prices. The one with gorgeous views are going to be more expensive for example. It can be a good idea if you want to plan your ceremony in a beautiful Parisian garden.

You can also decide to plan your ceremony in a private room in a restaurant or a private mansion. You will have the chance to find venues with incredible views if you want for example to plan a ceremony in front of the Eiffel Tower. Birgitta and James have decided to plan their wedding but also their ceremony in a private room of a restaurant in an impressive building… Look at those views!

Birgitta & James: @Picturing Love

Your wedding in Paris: the venue!

Now, it is time to choose your wedding reception venue! Maybe one of the most important vendors of your wedding. It is important to have an idea of what you are looking for because in Paris, you have such a number of different venues, so different from each other!

First of all, I recommend you to choose which kind of venue you want: a restaurant, a private mansion, a loft, a typical Parisian apartment,… You have so many options! And to choose also the district you want your wedding to happen because Paris is a big city and depending where your guests are staying or which district you love, the solution will be different.

private room paris

An important point while looking for the perfect venue in Paris is how many hours will you be able to party. In Paris, a lot of venues have some restrictions about noise and parties so don’t hesitate to ask how many hours will you be able to rent the venue, even more if you want to have a big party!

For a venue with more space such as a French Castle , it is possible to rent one but outside Paris. Paris has private manors which look like small castles but for true French Castles you have all the region to find yours!

Being abroad can make not easy the task of finding the venue you always wanted… Give this big task to your wedding planner in Paris, she will be the perfect person to find your venue!

Don’t hesitate to send me an e-mail to find together your wedding venue in Paris! HERE

Wendy and Aaron’s destination wedding in Paris!

wendy-aaron-wedding-paris

Dear “Getting Married in Paris” community,

Today, we would like to share with you the incredible destination wedding in Paris of Wendy and Aaron. Do you remember Wendy and Aaron? We wrote an article about their engagement session in Paris while they were preparing their destination wedding in Paris with us.
You will find the link here:Wendy and Aaron

Wendy and Aaron’s destination wedding in Paris

Wendy and Aaron went to Paris in September 2017 to plan their wedding. We visited several venues, met their photographer and found the venue of their ceremony. We had an incredible time with them and had all planned by the end of their stay in Paris. Doing a trip to Paris when you are planning your destination wedding is always a great idea. You will be able to meet your providers before your wedding and visit all the venues of your wedding. If you can’t, don’t worry, we are Parisian and French specialist so we will find your perfect vendors.

The photoshoot road-trip

Our couple wanted to have a photoshoot in several points in Paris before their ceremony. So, we planned a real road-trip in Paris with their photographer Lola Prod. We started the photoshoot at the gorgeous Alexandre III bridge, maybe one of the most beautiful bridges in Paris! But the couple really wanted to go the Louvre Museum district. So we stay 1h30 in this district discovering places from the Tuilerie Gardens to the Comedy Française outsides. We went then to the Cathedral Notre-Dame to take some photos before the ceremony.

The ceremony

Wendy and Aaron felt in love with Notre-Dame-de-Paris (who would not?) so they decided to spend all their wedding in this district. It was an evidence to plan their ceremony in front of the gorgeous Cathedral of Notre-Dame. They dreamed of the ceremony and make it true with Sabrina, their wedding-planner and celebrant. They created their own ceremony with her and validated the text. They wrote their own vows and chose their ritual… Here are the pictures!

After the ceremony, their photographer took some shots of all the guests with the bride and groom to immortalize this incredible moment. Then, they walked from the Cathedral to the wedding venue…

The Wedding Venue

After this small walk through the district of Notre Dame, the guests arrived at the beautiful restaurant, one of the most older restaurant of Paris! They were welcomed in a typical Parisian room with some drinks and canapés with foie gras of course!

Then, they all went to the wedding room all decorated by Wendy, Aaron and us. The stationary were made by the talented Aurore from Zeste d’Amour.

Each guest had the chance to choose their own menu before the wedding so everybody had his personal menu! This is a possibility when you plan a destination wedding in Paris with less than 50 guests.

For the dessert, Wendy and Aaron wanted to mix the French and Canadian culture so our partner, Les Gourmandises de Léa et Louise made them a Red Velvet with a croquembouch! All in only one wedding cake and it was so delicious!!!

After this incredible time, it was the moment of the dancing party!! Our singer and musician took part of the party singing all night long! What a great moment for everybody… Don’t they look so happy?

Laura & Nile’s wedding in a gorgeous French Castle

destination wedding in France

Today, we want to talk you about this incredible destination wedding in France we had the chance to plan for Laura and Nile.

It was, what we called, an intimate wedding: it means that there were less than 30 guests. The couple had rented a gorgeous French Castle located 3 hours from Paris. The Castle has so many rooms (they look like more suites than rooms!),  everybody was able to stay at the Castle during few days. What a perfect trip to France for a beautiful moment 🙂

Laura & Nile’s destination wedding in France

Laura and Nile wanted to mix the American and French culture for their destination wedding in France. They decided to start their wedding day with the ceremony in the little chapel of the Castle. The fathers were the masters of their religious ceremony. Who more than a father could be the perfect officiant?

wedding ceremony in France

The ceremony was followed by a typical French cocktail in the gardens of the Castle. It wasn’t a sunny day as we wish for every wedding but the sun was there just for the cocktail – thank you Mister Sun! – . Our incredible florist made a floral decoration of the pavilion so the guests can use it as a photooboth. During the cocktail, the couple and the bride & groom’s team made some pictures in front of the Castle as member of the Royalty Family! They made the Castle rock :-p

The dinner was typical French gastronomy  with a list of 5-course-meal with some famous French dishes such as the French foie gras of course! During the dinner, they enjoyed music with a string quartet in the dining-room of the Castle. The bride’s mother is a professional musician and she enjoyed playing with the quartet such as all the guests!

For the dessert, we planned a beautiful arrival in a room for the two cakes: a croquembouche and a Red Velvet wedding-cake. All the guests were invited to go to the dancing room… and two beautiful cakes were waiting for them! After the tasting, the bride starts a very emotional dance with her father who was then followed by her now-husband… From that moment, the dancing party started !

We had such a great time planning this gorgeous destination wedding in France for Laura and Nile with our incredible team as always!

Alison and Teddy’s Elopement in Paris

Alison & Teddy Elopement Paris

We would like to present you the elopement of Alison and Teddy, coming from New Orleans to Paris to celebrate their love in front of one of the most symbolic monument in Paris: the Eiffel Tower. Here is the story of their dream elopement in Paris…

Alison & Teddy elopement in Paris 2© Zoé Psaroudaki

The first contact with our team, DVV Events

Teddy contacted us through the blog because he wanted to make his wife’s dream come true. For his proposal, he knows Alison was so in love with Paris and the Eiffel Tower that he wanted to make it in front of the Eiffel Tower… But he did it in front of a small Eiffel Tower!

He decided to take her to Paris to elope in a very romantic trip to Paris. He needed our help to plan the perfect moment and to be the closest to the Eiffel Tower. We worked with him and then with Alison too to find the perfect place for their ceremony. The Eiffel Tower gardens were the best place to make it: they will be very close to the Eiffel Tower and we tried to find a place where we will be able to plan a ceremony with some privacy. As you may know, all the pictures you can see on Facebook or Instagram with the couple and the Eiffel Tower only, with no tourist, are taken very early in the morning, before 7 or 8 am!! As our Couple was coming from London and with a little bit of jet lag because of their trip from New Orleans, that option wasn’t possible of course. They decided to plan it between 5 and 6 pm and we found THE perfect place!

Alison & Teddy Elopement Paris© Zoé Psaroudaki

Their trip to Paris and the Elopement Day!

Alison and Teddy arrived the same day of the elopement by Eurostar from London. Alison wanted to take care of her own bouquet and the buttonhole of her husband (We love when the Couple decide to  do their own accessories, it becomes a very personalize wedding!) We had to plan a meeting for Alison’s hair but it was a Monday and as you may know, on Mondays, a lot of hairdressers are closed  in France but even more when it’s a public holiday day! Challenge accepted and Alison had her meeting, she was very happy with it!

We met with Teddy in front of the Eiffel Tower to choose the best place between the 2 places they had chosen.  We met also with Zoé, from Picturing Love, our lovely photographer <3 and we were all waiting for the bride to be who want to come with her friend. The moment was precious: Alison came with tears in her eyes while Teddy was making his best smile which said ” I am the most lucky man in the world”. Their happiness and love was so present that we all cried during the ceremony!!

Alison & Teddy elopement in Paris© Zoé Psaroudaki

After their ceremony, Zoé took them to a shooting near the Eiffel Tower and the Carrousel in front of the Trocadero. We made a reservation to the gorgeous Restaurant Monsieur Bleu with incredible views over the Eiffel Tower and the Seine… It was an incredible elopement for them but for us too!

Here are some words of Teddy after their elopement in Paris with DVV Events:

8 Tips to Get Married in Paris

Today, we are going to share with you 8 tips to get married in Paris. A lot of you have asked us to give you some advices to get married in Paris and as Santa Claus came a few weeks ago, this is our gift! Don’t hesitate to comment and to share with us your other questions <3

1 – Choose a district in Paris

Our first advice: if you want to fully enjoy your wedding day in Paris, we advise you to choose a particular location in Paris. It is possible to get married in Montmartre and then, have your wedding lunch or dinner near Notre-Dame for example. But you will lose time in traffic, waiting for your wedding car and if you have guests, waiting for them,… We suggest you choose a district in Paris, the one you are in love and to enjoy each moment in it. A Parisian district is still an important part of Paris and you will find a lot of different locations, parks, venues, small streets,… for your ceremony, your lunch/diner and your shooting too!

8 tips to get married in Paris 3

2- Be careful with your wedding’s date

Indeed, this tip can seem too easy but let’s talk about it. Paris is a big city with a lot of small events and big events. Maybe an event will take place at your ceremony’s place which will have a big consequence on your D-Day.

Also, in France, each season has its own price. If you want to lower your budget, you should plan your ceremony during winter for example because venues, as they are less weddings as in summer, will give you a cheaper price for the rent. As well, they are some days during the year that are really more expensive than the others in the same season. For example, the New Year Eve. It is one of the most beautiful day of the year in Paris. However, all the vendors will ask you expensive or very expensive prices for the different services. If you want to take your budget lower, the date of your wedding is an important point.

3- Most of the venues in Paris have their own caterer

While you will be looking after your venue, you will notice that in Paris a lot of venues have their own caterer. You will only have the choice to choose your menu, so be careful! Don’t hesitate to look on social media if the caterer has good reviews. Having a wonderful venue is important but having an excellent dinner can be one of the most important part of your wedding.

Also, if you have a precise budget, some of the times, the caterer of the most beautiful places has expensive menus. Before signing with those places, ask for different menus to be sure their caterer will answer to your ideal menu.

8 tips to get married in Paris 2

4- Wines and Champagne

Yes, we could have talk about this in the caterer’s point. But we have decided to separate it. Why? Because you can decide to buy your own wines and champagne with some caterers. A part of them won’t accept to let you buy your alcohol drinks, even more if you have rent a restaurant or a hotel. Some other will apply what we called a “droit de bouchon” which is a tax on each bottle that will be served. It can be around 8 to 20€ per bottle!
Hopefully, you have caterers who will allow you to choose and buy your own wines and Champagne. Because, yes, we think that the couple has to have the possibility to choose each service of their wedding.

5- Sleeps for your guests

If you are planning a destination wedding, you will have to find sleeps for your guests so it will be easy for them to plan their trip to Paris. Also, they will be more relax if you give them the name of the hotel where everybody is going to stay.

In Paris, there are only a very few places where your guests will be able to sleep. We recommend you look for an hotel or a villa for your accommodation.

6- Dancing Party

In Paris, venues have restrictions about music. Most of the venues will propose you a rental until midnight or 2 am. If you want to have a big party, be careful with this point! Some of the Parisian venues will propose you to plan your party until 4 or 5 am with extra hours. The price will depend on each venue but the price of an extra-hour can start at 200€ to 800€ for example.
However, if you have a restricted budget for the venue, you can also decide to go on the suburbs of Paris where they are a lot of incredible venues too!

7- The Bridal Dress

If you have bought your bridal dress, the first question will be: “how will I transport my bridal dress?”. You have two possibilities. You can transport it in its slipcover with you in the cabin. The dress will be protected but it can be heavy if you have a voluminous dress. On the other hand, you can decide to transport it in a luggage. The dress will be protected and will only have to ask at your hotel for example to prepare it at their pressing service.

However, you can decide to buy it in Paris because we have a lot of different dress boutiques. This option can be a good idea but you have to come to Paris a few months before the wedding because you have to order it and make the dress be altered. Also, what about rent it in a dress boutique? It can be a very good option if you don’t want to travel with your dress!

8 tips to get married in Paris

8- Your Wedding-Planner

But if you want one advice, it will be this one: planning you destination wedding in Paris is a very important task. You will need the expertise and savoir-faire of a Parisian wedding-planner. You will be more relax during the planning and your D-Day will be as perfect you dreamed it! Don’t hesitate to contact us to talk about your wedding project in Paris, we will be delighted to help you!

A bientôt à Paris!

Wendy and Aaron: their trip to Paris to prepare their wedding

September 7th 2018…

Two beautiful souls are going to plan their wedding in Paris and we have the honour to help them to prepare one of the most beautiful day of their lives. Sabrina will also be the celebrant of their ceremony so we are even more excited about it!

Wendy and Aaron decided to send us an e-mail after visiting our blog “Getting Married in Paris”. They were looking for a wedding-planner in Paris as they really want to plan their destination wedding in Paris, a city they love so much. We had send them our proposal for their wedding and they have decided to give us their trust… What an incredible trip together!

wedding in Paris Wendy and Aaron 4

They planned a trip to Paris last September to meet us and to visit all their providers and taste the caterer of course (one of the best moment of the planning… French gastronomy and wines…. Yummmmyyyy). It was really a good idea to plan this trip a year before their wedding because we had the opportunity to have the same conditions as it will be for their real wedding such as the weather (even if it is a little bit unpredictable in France and even more in Paris), the places with turists, …  If you have the opportunity to plan a trip to Paris even if it is months before, it is always a good idea. However, if you don’t have time to come to Paris, don’t worry… The surprise of your wedding in Paris will be even more amazing!

Wendy and Aaron have always been in love with Notre-Dame-de-Paris… How not to be in love with this place? The romanticism of the monument and its beautiful park, the Seine crossing the place and the little Isle called “Ile de la Cité” is so Parisian!

wedding in Paris Notre Dame

The day after their arrival, we have started to visit the wedding venues because the venue will decide the caterer. As you may know, in Paris, some places have their own caterers and some other not. The places that Wendy and Aaron have decided to visit have their own caterers as they were restaurants or private mansions. After two visits, they decided to stop the visits! Why? They have found their perfect venue for their wedding in Paris: a very cosy, gorgeous and Parisian restaurant with views over Notre-Dame-de-Paris and the district. The caterer was then the restaurant itself: a gastronomic typical French food and wines and champagne for their guests, to make them discover Paris… Also, a pianist will play during their cocktail: they fall in love with this idea of having some beautiful music played by a Professional pianist with a glass of a Champagne in one hand and a petit-four of Foie Gras on the other hand. What an incredible day they had and we had some much fun with them because as we always say: Planning your destination wedding in Paris has to be fun too!

You will ask me about the ceremony venue? The park of Notre-Dame will be the perfect place to celebrate their love of course 🙂

As the planning of the visits has been canceled because they found THEIR perfect place, we have time to meet their photographer in Paris. What they weren’t expected is that their photographer will start taking photos of them in Paris! It was not a sunny day but we had incredible views over the Eiffel Tower to not lose the day! Aren’t they gorgeous and happy?
